Fugitive Captured After 16 Years on the Run for Wife's Murder

Noida Police have captured Sanjay Kurmi, a 55-year-old man from Bihar who had been evading arrest for 16 years on charges of murdering his wife over suspected infidelity. He was apprehended from Punjab after living in various disguises across multiple states.

Noida Police have apprehended a man who had been on the run for 16 years, accused of killing his wife over suspected infidelity, officials revealed on Tuesday.

The 55-year-old suspect, identified as Sanjay Kurmi from Nalanda district in Bihar, was arrested on Monday in Punjab, according to police sources.

Kurmi, wanted since 2008 for allegedly murdering his wife with a pressure cooker and strangling her, was captured after detailed investigations and efforts by Noida Phase 2 police. A Rs 25,000 reward had been offered for information leading to his arrest, the spokesperson added.

Further legal proceedings are now underway, the official concluded.
