The Karnataka cabinet has given its nod to a groundbreaking bill that mandates 100% reservation for Kannadigas in private sector jobs for Group C and D posts, according to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
In a statement on X, the Chief Minister said the decision was made during the Cabinet meeting held on Monday. The bill, titled 'Karnataka State Employment of Local Candidates in the Industries, Factories, and Other Establishments Bill, 2024', is set to be tabled in the Assembly on Thursday.
Key provisions include a requirement for 50% local candidates in management roles and 70% in non-management roles, along with a Kannada proficiency test. The bill also allows for relaxation if local candidates are not available, with establishment penalties ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000 for non-compliance.
