A former CIA analyst and ex-senior White House National Security Council member, Sue Mi Terry, has been charged with acting as an unregistered agent for South Korea. The indictment claims she disclosed nonpublic U.S. government information to South Korean intelligence officers in exchange for luxury items and cash.
According to the Manhattan federal court indictment, Terry allegedly received items such as Bottega Veneta and Louis Vuitton handbags, a Dolce & Gabbana coat, and covert funding exceeding $37,000. Surveillance camera images reveal her receiving gifts in Washington in 2019 and 2021.
Terry, who was warned by FBI agents in 2014, is a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. She denies the allegations, terming them unfounded. She has been placed on unpaid administrative leave pending the investigation's outcome.
