Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday expressed their condolences for the lives lost due to the excessive rainfall in Kerala. They urged party leaders and workers in the state to extend all possible help in relief and rescue operations.
Heavy rains continued to lash several parts of Kerala, especially in the hilly areas of its northern districts on Thursday, disrupting normal life. Incidents of flooding, uprooted trees, and minor landslides have been reported across the northern districts.
Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, termed the excessive rainfall in Kerala as highly concerning. He extended his heartfelt condolences to those who have lost their loved ones and urged Congress members to provide assistance in relief efforts. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also echoed similar sentiments, hoping that everyone in the red alert areas is taking all necessary precautions and staying safe.
In a related incident, two more bodies were recovered on Thursday during search and rescue operations in Shirur village in Uttara Kannada district, where a massive landslide claimed six lives two days ago, officials said.
