Five Naxalites Surrender in Sukma District: Rehabilitation Underway

Five Naxalites surrendered in Sukma district, Chhattisgarh. Among them is Telam Hunga, a key figure in the Chetna Natya Mandali. They rejected Maoist ideology and praised the state’s Naxalism elimination and rehabilitation efforts. These individuals will receive benefits under the state’s surrender policy.

In a significant development, five Naxalites surrendered to police and CRPF personnel in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district on Saturday, authorities reported.

Among those surrendering was Telam Hunga, the vice president of Chetna Natya Mandali (CNM) under the Duled Revolutionary Party Committee of the Communist Party of India (Maoist). The remaining individuals held lower ranks within the organization.

The surrendering Naxalites criticized the Maoist ideology as inhuman and hollow, commending the state government’s Naxalism elimination policy along with the Sukma police's rehabilitation initiative 'Puna Narkom' ('new dawn' in Gondi language). They were involved in tasks such as digging roads, felling trees, and putting up banners during Naxalite shutdowns. These individuals will now benefit from the state’s surrender and rehabilitation policy.
