Fourteen Indians Rescued from Cybercrime Scam in Cambodia
Fourteen Indian citizens trapped in a cybercrime scam in Cambodia have been rescued by the Indian Embassy. Authorities are coordinating their swift return home. The embassy, collaborating with Cambodian authorities and NGOs, has rescued over 650 Indians from job-related scams and warned against fake job offers.
Fourteen Indian citizens who were ensnared in a cybercrime scam in Cambodia have been rescued, the Indian Embassy announced in a statement on Saturday. Authorities are now working to expedite their return to India.
In collaboration with Cambodian authorities, the Indian Embassy successfully secured the release of the 14 citizens and they are currently being cared for by an NGO, supported by Cambodia's Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans, and Youth Rehabilitation. The embassy posted updates on the social media platform X.
The embassy has been actively involved in the rescue and repatriation of over 650 Indian citizens ensnared by fraudulent job offers that led them into cybercrime operations. The embassy continues to advise Indian nationals to exercise caution regarding job offers in Cambodia and to report suspicious activities. An advisory was also issued in April highlighting the dangers of fake job scams leading to human trafficking.
