Tanzanian Delegation Meets Indian Officials During Budget Session

A delegation led by Tulia Ackson, President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and Speaker of Tanzania's National Assembly, met with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla during India's critical budget session. Birla highlighted the significance of the session and the representation of India's culture in the new Parliament building. Ackson also met External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.

A delegation led by Tulia Ackson, the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and Speaker of the National Assembly of Tanzania, met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday.

The visiting delegation witnessed Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman present the Union Budget from a special box in the Lok Sabha.

During the meeting, Birla emphasized the session's critical nature as the formidable budget proposals were closely examined, debated, and approved by the House.

Birla informed the delegates about the new Parliament building, which encapsulates India's arts, crafts, culture, music, and history.

He suggested setting up Zonal Training Centres for Parliamentary Studies, Training, and Capacity Building based on the Parliamentary Research and Training Institute for Democracies (PRIDE) model.

Ackson later met with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.
