Rajya Sabha proceedings were disrupted and adjourned for an hour due to a heated debate over the reservation issue. Congress MP Neeraj Dangi sparked the controversy by referencing the 1993 provision under PM PV Narasimha Rao, which was later contested in the Supreme Court.
Dangi's call for a caste-based census and the removal of the 50% reservation cap intensified the commotion. Treasury bench members retaliated, leading to a noisy exchange that forced the temporary suspension.
The chairperson, S Phangnon Konyak, decided to adjourn the house for an hour at 3 pm to restore order amidst the chaos.
