Modi Urges Governors to Bridge Centre-State Gap

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the role of governors as effective bridges between the Centre and states during a two-day conference chaired by President Droupadi Murmu. The event discussed issues like tribal welfare, democracy, education, inclusive development, and youth-driven initiatives. Union officials and ministers also participated.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday urged governors to play the role of an effective bridge between the Centre and states, fostering interaction with people and social organizations to include the underprivileged. The appeal came during a two-day conference of governors, inaugurated and chaired by President Droupadi Murmu.

In his address, Modi emphasized the governor’s constitutional role in promoting welfare, particularly in tribal areas. President Murmu echoed Modi’s sentiments, stressing the need for better coordination among central agencies across states for the smooth functioning of democracy. She urged governors to assist in implementing the National Education Policy and to focus on inclusive development.

The conference, addressed by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, aimed at enriching centre-state relations and promoting national welfare schemes. It included sessions on various critical issues, with observations to be shared during the concluding session.
