The Delhi High Court on Friday strongly criticized police and MCD following the drowning of three civil services aspirants in the basement of a coaching center in Rajinder Nagar.

During the session, the bench questioned why MCD officials failed to inform the commissioner about the non-functioning storm water drains in the area. Acting Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela expressed concern over the indifference displayed by MCD officials.

The court went as far as to mock the police, stating, ''Mercifully, you have not challaned rainwater for entering into the basement, the way you arrested the SUV driver for driving his car there.''
