The Delhi High Court has transferred the investigation of the tragic drowning of three civil services aspirants from the Delhi Police to the CBI to ensure public confidence in the probe.
Acting Chief Justice Manmohan, leading the bench, requested the Central Vigilance Commission to appoint a senior officer to oversee the CBI's efforts. The court sharply criticized both the police and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi for their roles.
Highlighting administrative inefficiencies and outdated infrastructure, the court called for the removal of encroachments and unauthorized constructions, particularly in the Rajinder Nagar area, and suggested the formation of a committee to address these systemic issues.
