Rajasthan Minister Mediates Employment Issue in Udaipur's Mining Sector

Rajasthan minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar addressed the employment concerns of youngsters in Udaipur's mining-affected area, promising to mediate with Hindustan Zinc. Udaipur Rural MLA Phool Singh Meena had raised the issue in the assembly. Despite the pandemic, employment numbers are up. The district collector was instructed to resolve ongoing protests and ensure smooth mining operations.

Rajasthan minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar announced plans Friday to mediate the employment issues affecting youngsters in Udaipur's mining-affected Jawar gram panchayat area.

The issue was brought up by Udaipur Rural MLA Phool Singh Meena during Zero Hour in the assembly. Khinvsar informed that Hindustan Zinc's mining lease is valid until 2030 and covers 3,620 hectares, including 1,538 hectares belonging to the forest department.

Despite the pandemic, employment numbers in the local area are improving, with 2,700 people currently employed. The minister acknowledged the recent protests over employment, which prompted a high court order directing the district collector to ensure smooth mining operations. Khinvsar highlighted the need for legally binding agreements to provide more employment through vocational training centers developed by Hindustan Zinc.
