Two men in Madhya Pradesh have been charged for allegedly tying and stuffing six dogs in sacks, planning to dump them in a river, according to police officials.
The alarming incident unfolded outside Satna city on Thursday and was brought to light by passersby who saw the dogs being transported in an e-rickshaw.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashutosh Gupta reported that a viral video showed a man noting that the dogs were about to be discarded into the Satna river. Prompt actions were directed, leading to a case under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act against the suspects Nandu Banshkar and Pradeep Banshkar.
Kotwali police station's in-charge Shankhdhar Dwivedi stated that two motorcyclists, hearing the dogs' cries, intervened and made the e-rickshaw driver stop, revealing the six dogs inside the sacks.
