The Supreme Court on Tuesday questioned Indian Medical Association (IMA) president R V Asokan about whether his unconditional apology to the apex court concerning his 'damaging' statements in a PTI interview was published in all newspapers that carried his original interview.
In the PTI interview, Asokan had called it 'unfortunate' that the Supreme Court criticized the IMA and some practices of private doctors, regarding Patanjali Ayurved Ltd.'s misleading advertisements case. The court insisted Asokan's apology be personally published, not using IMA funds.
A bench of Justices Hima Kohli and Sandeep Mehta addressed IMA's counsel, emphasizing that the apology should have appeared in all newspapers where the interview was published. The case will continue with further hearings on August 27.
