In a recent session at the Lok Sabha, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal called on the opposition to refrain from misleading the public regarding a Supreme Court judge’s remarks about the creamy layer exclusion from SC/ST reservations.

Responding to supplementary questions during Question Hour, Meghwal addressed the concern raised by Shiv Sena-UBT member Bhausaheb Wakchaure concerning a Supreme Court ruling on the matter. Meghwal clarified that the observations on creamy layers were not part of the official decision but merely a judge's opinion.

The Law Minister assured that the Constitution does not provide for SC/ST reservations in the Rajya Sabha or various state legislative councils. He reiterated that only the State Legislative Assemblies have reserved seats for these groups, as mandated by Article 332 of the Constitution, following proportions based on their population.
