In Navi Mumbai, a 22-year-old man was found dead, allegedly committing suicide after murdering his girlfriend. The police recovered his decomposed body from a lake early Friday morning and sent it for post-mortem, according to Assistant Commissioner Mayur Bhujbal.

Identified as Swastik Patil, the Panvel resident reportedly jumped into DPS Lake from a bridge on Wednesday after strangling his 19-year-old girlfriend, Bhavika More, a college student. The couple had been in a relationship for the past two years.

Authorities were informed of a man jumping off a bridge into the lake and later discovered a woman's body in a nullah leading to the lake. The local police, aided by fishermen and search teams, were engaged in locating Patil before his body was recovered.
