The Delhi Police has initiated a formal investigation following the emergence of a troubling video on social media. The video shows a group of men assaulting individuals while hurling accusations of being 'Bangladeshi' at them, officials stated on Friday.
A senior police officer noted that the exact location of the incident is currently being determined. The footage depicts men chasing and hitting their victims with sticks, demanding that they leave the area. Offensive language and threats were also used.
One of the assailants can be heard claiming that 'Our Hindu sisters and daughters are being raped in Bangladesh.' Another alleged attacker is suspected to have previously assaulted Kanhaiya Kumar before the general elections in northeast Delhi. The police are in the process of verifying these details.
