A new regional committee of the pan-India ex-servicemen banking body has been formed in Northeast India to advocate for the legal rights and provide support for its members, a statement said on Sunday.

This newly established team is expected to play a pivotal role in advocating for the rights of ex-servicemen, enhancing their working conditions, and fostering a supportive environment for these esteemed individuals.

Samrat Shome, the secretary of the regional committee, emphasized the unique challenges faced by ex-servicemen working in the banking sector post-retirement. He underscored the need to ensure that their legal rights and benefits are duly met, citing issues such as the unfilled recruitment quotas promised to ex-servicemen by banks.

Shome assured that the committee will address such issues to prevent any deprivation of promised benefits. Furthermore, the committee pledged support for ex-servicemen engaged in other sectors.

During a recent meeting, Kushal Kumar Das was appointed president and Dipankar Bharali as the treasurer of the Northeast committee by the All India Ex-Servicemen Bank Employees Federation, with central committee president Praveen Kumar Sharma and secretary Suresh Kumar in attendance.

The committee plans to develop programs to support both professional and personal needs of the members, including organizing workshops and seminars aimed at continuous learning and career progression.
