An anti-terrorism court in Pakistan has rejected the bail application of Bushra Bibi, the wife of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan, in connection with 12 cases concerning the May 9 violence that broke out last year. The violence followed Khan's arrest in an alleged corruption case.

Judge Malik Ejaz Asif from the ATC in Rawalpindi dismissed the bail plea, stating that a comprehensive investigation was necessary. The judge also mandated that the probe should be completed within seven days. Bushra Bibi had sought bail in FIRs filed at multiple police stations in Rawalpindi.

Both Khan and Bushra were present in court, along with various other suspects linked to the May 9 violence, which resulted in over 100 deaths. Further hearings are scheduled for August 22.
