Russia Condemns Western Inaction Over Kyiv's Incursion into Kursk

Russia criticized Western allies of Ukraine at the UN for not condemning Kyiv's incursion into Kursk, accusing Ukrainian forces of killing civilians. The West, including the US, France, and Britain, stood firm in support of Kyiv, while both Russian and Ukrainian militaries barred journalists from verifying battlefield claims.

Russia lashed out at Western allies of Ukraine during a United Nations meeting on Tuesday for not denouncing Kyiv's incursion into the Russian region of Kursk, alleging Ukrainian forces had targeted and killed civilians. Russia further questioned the objectives behind this cross-border assault.

Allies of Ukraine on the U.N. Security Council - including the United States, France, and Britain - reiterated their steadfast support for Kyiv during an informal council gathering initiated by Russia. They did not make any reference to the Kursk offensive. 'We will not recognize the aggressor as the victim,' declared senior Slovenian diplomat Klemen Ponikvar, one of several council members who accused Russia of hypocrisy, double standards, and wasting the Security Council's time.

The Russian and Ukrainian militaries have prohibited journalists from accessing the battlefield, making it difficult to independently verify claims like those Russia advanced on Tuesday. 'We haven't heard a word of condemnation of these actions from the Western sponsors of the Kyiv regime who continue to cover up the abhorrent crimes of their puppet,' Russia's Deputy U.N. Ambassador Dmitry Polyanskiy told the council gathering. Meanwhile, American, British, and French diplomats cataloged violations by Russia in Ukraine, underscoring numerous well-documented atrocities committed by Moscow.
