Russia's air defence units intercepted and destroyed 37 drones launched by Ukraine targeting the Voronezh region. No casualties were reported, but several residential houses were damaged. A soccer match between FC Fakel and Moscow's Spartak will now be played in Moscow due to the attack.
Russia's air defence units intercepted and destroyed 37 drones launched by Ukraine overnight, targeting the Voronezh region, located several hundred kilometers south of Moscow, the Russian defence ministry announced on Wednesday.
In a post on its Telegram messaging app, the ministry did not disclose the total number of drones launched by Ukraine. Governor Alexander Gusev of Voronezh confirmed on Telegram that while there were no casualties, several residential houses sustained damage.
Moscow and Kyiv seldom reveal the complete extent of damages from attacks unless there are injuries or substantial damage to residential buildings. Due to the attack, a soccer match set for Aug. 18 in Voronezh between local team FC Fakel and Moscow's Spartak will now be held in Moscow, the Russian Premier League stated on Telegram.
