Ministry spokesperson Arne Collatz confirmed the Wahn barracks near Cologne had been sealed off amid concerns over attempted illegal entry and possible sabotage.

A hole in a fence and suspicion of water supply tampering have been noted, with water samples collected for further investigation, according to the German news agency dpa.

The barracks, integral to the military operations at Cologne/Bonn Airport, houses the fleet serving the German government.

Military spokesperson Ulrich Fonrobert stated that the site was closed off after a serious incident on Tuesday night, with the gates scheduled to open later on Wednesday.
