Suspect in Nord Stream Pipeline Attack Evades Arrest Due to Database Omission
Poland received a European arrest warrant from Germany for Volodymyr Z, a Ukrainian man suspected in the 2022 Nord Stream pipeline attacks. He left Poland as Germany had not listed him in a wanted persons database. Investigations by Germany, Denmark, and Sweden confirmed the blasts were deliberate, but no suspects were identified.
Poland received a European arrest warrant issued by Germany concerning the 2022 Nord Stream pipeline attacks. However, the suspect, Volodymyr Z, a Ukrainian man, had already left Poland, as confirmed by Polish prosecutors. They noted Germany's failure to include his name in a wanted persons database.
The Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines, crucial for transporting gas under the Baltic Sea, suffered explosions in September 2022. German investigators assert that Volodymyr Z was involved in planting the explosives, based on reports from SZ, Die Zeit, and ARD broadcaster.
Polish National Public Prosecutor's Office spokeswoman Anna Adamiak stated that German authorities sent the European warrant in June. Despite this, Volodymyr Z left Poland in early July due to his non-inclusion in the wanted persons database, preventing the Polish Border Guard from detaining him.
