Ukraine Successfully Downs All Russia-Launched Drones

In an overnight defensive operation, Ukraine's air force successfully intercepted and shot down all five drones launched by Russia, the military confirmed on Friday. According to an air force statement on the Telegram messaging app, three ballistic Iskander-M missiles were also used in the assault. The drones included three of the Shahed-type and two unidentified models.

Reports from Reuters have highlighted that Russia has been using inexpensive drones in some attacks on Ukraine to locate air defenses and serve as decoys. Subsequent statements from the governors of the Kyiv and Kirovohrad regions reported no resulting damage or casualties from the latest incursion.

In the capital city of Kyiv, air defense systems were active overnight, with authorities reporting no damage. On Thursday, the city's military triggered air alerts four times to warn residents of potential incoming attacks. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Kyiv has experienced over 1,200 air alerts, officials said on Friday.
