Britons Prioritize Immigration as Top Concern Amid Riots

Immigration ranks as the main issue for Britons, surpassing healthcare, amid recent riots targeting Muslims and migrants. This marks the first time since 2016 that immigration has topped concerns. Ipsos polls reveal a marked increase in public anxiety following these events, echoing findings from YouGov.

A recent Ipsos poll indicates that immigration has become the foremost concern for Britons for the first time since 2016, surpassing healthcare, the economy, crime, and inflation. This shift follows widespread riots targeting Muslims and migrants.

34% of respondents named immigration as the top issue, with healthcare at 30%, the economy at 29%, crime at 25%, and inflation at 20%. Additionally, race relations were a primary concern for 11% of those surveyed.

The rise in public anxiety about immigration comes in the wake of anti-immigration demonstrations that targeted asylum-seeker accommodations and mosques. The Ipsos poll, which surveyed 1,010 adults, aligns with a similar YouGov poll of 2,163 adults, highlighting the growing unrest and its social repercussions.
