Man Convicted on Testimony in Attempted Murder Case

A court in Safdarjung Enclave has convicted a man, Roshan Kumar, on charges of attempting to murder Shankar Mukhia. The conviction was based solely on Mukhia’s testimony, which the court found reliable and consistent.

Additional Sessions Judge Vishal Pahuja noted that the quality of a witness's deposition is more important than the number of witnesses. Mukhia described in detail how Kumar assaulted him with a knife, inflicting severe stab wounds on July 22, 2022, in Hauz Khas village.

The court dismissed the defense’s argument that corroboration by independent witnesses was necessary, underlining that Kumar's intention to cause Mukhia’s death was evident from the circumstances and the nature of the weapon used. The court has set August 22 for filing an income and asset affidavit of the convict before arguments on sentencing.
