The Enforcement Directorate (ED) announced on Tuesday that it will submit its response to BRS leader K Kavitha's bail plea by August 22. This plea is in connection with a money laundering case linked to the Delhi excise policy scam. Additional Solicitor General S V Raju, representing both the ED and the CBI, assured a Supreme Court bench comprising Justices B R Gavai and K V Viswanathan of this timeline.

The Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing for August 27, with any rejoinders due by August 23. The court aims to consolidate hearings for both the CBI and ED cases against Kavitha, who has been denied bail by the Delhi High Court.

Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi argued that the stringent conditions for bail under Section 45 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act should not apply in this instance. However, the High Court had found her to be a key conspirator in the alleged scam, thus dismissing her pleas.
