The Delhi High Court on Tuesday instructed jail authorities to consider a plea by alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekar, who is seeking five virtual meetings with his counsel each week.
Currently detained in Mandoli jail, Chandrashekar claims that the existing allowance of two 45-minute virtual meetings per week is insufficient for handling his extensive and intricate legal matters.
Justice Amit Mahajan has now directed the jail authorities to make a decision regarding Chandrashekar's request. In his petition, Chandrashekar referenced a similar case involving Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, asserting that he needs substantial consultation time to effectively manage his defense in high-profile cases, including those involving corruption and extortion. The petition emphasized that denying such consultations compromises his constitutional rights and the fairness of legal proceedings.
