Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Tuesday suggested that his government may be open to extraditing controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik should India present compelling evidence against him.
Speaking at the Indian Council of World Affairs, Ibrahim stressed that the case, while significant, should not hinder the enhancement of bilateral relations between Malaysia and India.
Naik, pursued by Indian authorities for alleged money laundering and hate speeches, left India in 2016. Ibrahim stated, 'We will not condone terrorism and have been working closely with India on related issues. However, this lone case should not impede broader cooperation.'
