Police in Bhiwandi, Thane district, have intercepted and dismantled a fuel pilferage gang allegedly involved in illegally selling diesel from a tanker. Authorities have filed a case against three individuals under the Essential Commodities Act, an official disclosed on Wednesday.
On Tuesday night, law enforcement officers seized a tanker containing 15,500 liters of diesel. The combined value of the confiscated tanker and fuel is estimated at Rs 34.80 lakh, according to police reports. As of now, no arrests have been made.
The suspects include the tanker driver and an intermediary agent, authorities confirmed.
