Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Rape Under POCSO Act

A special court in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh has sentenced Javed, aged 25, to 10 years in prison for the rape of a 15-year-old girl, a government lawyer announced on Thursday.
Judge Seema Verma of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court also imposed a fine of Rs 45,000 on Javed. The district government counsel, Sanjay Chauhan, informed that the incident took place on June 7, 2020, in the Kairana area when the girl's family was out for personal work.
The judge held Javed guilty under IPC sections 452 (house trespass) and 376 (punishment for rape), in addition to provisions of the POCSO Act, added Chauhan.
