Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi reviewed the security situation along the international border in Manipur, a statement from the army said.
Gen Dwivedi is currently on a two-day visit to Manipur, during which he and the Eastern Army Commander have been evaluating both border security and internal stability in the area, according to the statement released on Friday.
The Army chief commended the efforts of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles in maintaining peace and harmony. He also interacted with veterans, acknowledging their contributions to nation-building and encouraging them to continue promoting peace and community friendship.
On Friday, Gen Dwivedi met with Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh for wide-ranging discussions on the current security landscape. He assured the CM of the Indian Army's unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and harmony in the region and reaffirmed the army's willingness to provide necessary assistance for the well-being of the populace, the statement added.
