Russia's Persistent Attacks on Ukraine Escalate
Russia launched multiple waves of missile and drone attacks targeting Kyiv and surrounding regions, killing at least one person in Kryvyi Rih. The Monday attack, condemned by U.S. President Biden, led to extensive damage to Ukraine's energy infrastructure. The Kremlin denies targeting civilians.
Russia launched several waves of missile and drone attacks overnight targeting Kyiv and other regions, according to Ukraine's military on Tuesday. This follows Moscow's biggest attack since the war began.
At least one person was killed in Kryvyi Rih. Kyiv's air defence engaged multiple times to counter the missile and drone onslaught. Reuters witnesses reported at least three rounds of explosions in Kyiv overnight. On Monday, Russia launched over 200 missiles and drones, killing seven and damaging energy infrastructure in what U.S. President Biden condemned as 'outrageous.'
The scale of Tuesday's attacks remains unclear, but Ukraine's air force noted several groups of drones and strategic bombers being deployed. The Kremlin denies targeting civilians, claiming hits on critical energy infrastructure. Kryvyi Rih, Kyiv, and central Ukraine were on air raid alert overnight. Five civilians are feared trapped under rubble with four injured.
