West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose has voiced his criticism towards the Mamata Banerjee administration for its failure to send a crucial technical report along with a newly passed anti-rape Bill, which is essential for the governor's assent, according to an official.
Bose's criticism reflects his growing frustration with what he described as the state's habitual practice of not sending necessary technical reports with Bills, only to blame the Raj Bhavan for subsequent delays in approval. He emphasized that this pattern has been a recurring issue.
The governor was particularly disappointed with the handling of the Aparajita Bill, deeming it a 'copy-paste' of similar legislation from other states such as Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Arunachal Pradesh. Bose further noted that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's threat of a dharna seemed aimed at misleading the public, as parallel Bills are also pending with the President of India.
