Supreme Court Orders Return of Illegally Occupied Land After Six Decades

The Supreme Court has mandated Maharashtra authorities to return 24 acres of land to an individual following illegal occupation lasting more than six decades.
Rajesh Kumar, the additional chief secretary of the forest and revenue department, apologized for 'contemptuous' remarks made in an affidavit suggesting the court doesn't adhere to the law, which the court accepted.
The apex court emphasized that legal procedures and environmental concerns must be respected, and ordered all formalities to be completed within six weeks, with future proceedings set for January.
