Inmate Wins $100M Judgment Against Sean 'Diddy' Combs
A Michigan inmate, Derrick Lee Smith, accused Sean 'Diddy' Combs of drugging and sexually assaulting him at a party nearly 30 years ago, and has been awarded a $100 million default judgment against Combs. An attorney for Combs plans to have the judgment dismissed, citing Smith's criminal background and claims of fraud.
Derrick Lee Smith, a Michigan inmate, has won a $100 million judgment against Sean 'Diddy' Combs, who he accused of drugging and sexually assaulting him approximately 30 years ago. The judgment was awarded by default in Lenawee County Circuit Court after Combs failed to appear at the virtual hearing on Monday.
Combs' attorney, Marc Agnifilo, stated that the rapper plans to have the judgment dismissed, arguing that Smith is a convicted felon and sexual predator who has been sentenced for multiple counts of sexual assault and kidnapping over the last 26 years. Agnifilo further alleged that Smith committed fraud on the court, as Combs has never heard of Smith nor been served with any lawsuit.
Smith, currently serving a 75-year sentence for sexual misconduct and kidnapping, filed complaints against Combs in June and August. A temporary restraining order was granted against Combs, who has several other pending sexual assault cases. Combs, the founder of Bad Boy Records, is a significant figure in hip-hop and also runs the Sean John clothing line.
