Bihar CM Reviews Ganga's Rising Levels, Urges Preparedness

Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inspected rising water levels of the Ganga in Patna and Hajipur, urging district officials to stay alert. The Ganga, in addition to several other rivers, is causing inundation in low-lying areas. Approximately 12 districts face flood-like conditions affecting nearly 9.78 lakh people.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted an inspection of the Ganga's rising water levels in Patna and Hajipur on Saturday, urging district officials to remain vigilant and ready for any situation that may arise.

Officials reported that the river is flowing above the danger mark at key points in Patna, inundating several low-lying areas. The situation is exacerbated by other rivers in the state affecting localities, resulting in the loss of five lives so far.

Accompanied by senior officials, Kumar inspected Ganga's water levels near JP Setu, Kangan Ghat, Gandhi Ghat, and Krishna Ghat. A statement from his office underscored the necessity for preparedness. The Disaster Management Department noted flood-like conditions in 12 districts affecting approximately 9.78 lakh people. The rescue efforts include the deployment of 1,280 boats.
