Britain Keeps Door Open for New Sanctions on Israeli Settlers
Britain is considering new sanctions against Israeli settlers in the West Bank due to actions inflaming tensions, says Foreign Minister David Lammy. Existing sanctions were announced earlier this year. The UK government is especially concerned about escalatory behavior and is in discussions with international partners.
Britain is contemplating the imposition of new sanctions on Israeli settlers in the West Bank due to concerns over actions that are aggravating tensions, Foreign Minister David Lammy revealed on Sunday.
In February and May, Britain had already sanctioned Israeli settlers for extremist violence against Palestinians. Lammy emphasized that the new Labour government could take further steps if necessary, highlighting the UK's deep concerns.
Lammy stated, 'We are very worried about escalatory behaviour and inflamed tensions. If we have to act, we will act, and discussions are ongoing with G7 and European partners.' He added that although no new sanctions were being announced, the situation is under close review.
