In a shocking development, four jail officers, including a senior official, have been suspended due to severe accusations of contraband sales within the district jail. The suspension was confirmed on Thursday by authorities.
Deputy Jailor Triloki Nath, along with Head Warden Phoolchand Yadav, Warden Umesh Kumar, and employee Saurabh, were those suspended following a surprise inspection on September 25. The inspection unearthed evidence of cannabis and mobile phones being possessed illegally on jail premises.
The revelation came when a prisoner, detained under the POCSO Act, sought an audience with the district magistrate, claiming that cannabis was being sold in jail. The prisoner provided 20 grams of cannabis hidden in a matchbox and detailed the operation led by Deputy Jailor Nath, who was found to be involved after an inquiry.
