In a high-profile case, British soldier Daniel Abed Khalife has admitted to escaping from prison, while awaiting trial over sensitive information leaks to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Khalife's trial is ongoing at London's Woolwich Crown Court, with several severe charges against him.
This British serviceman is accused of collecting crucial information between May 2019 and January 2022. Despite pleading guilty to escaping from London's Wandsworth prison, Khalife denies other charges, including creating a bomb hoax and leaving a fake bomb on a desk in 2023.
Prosecutors alleged Khalife's escape method involved attaching himself to a van, which led to a nationwide manhunt. As the trial progresses, Khalife, no longer affiliated with the military, continues to defend against accusations of aiding enemies and participating in acts of terrorism.
