Rising Crime Wave in Bhubaneswar Amid Decline in Cuttack

In a contrasting display of urban crime trends, Bhubaneswar has witnessed a rise in criminal cases over the past year, while its neighboring city, Cuttack, saw a decline.
As reported by Police Commissioner Suresh Dev Datta Singh, Bhubaneswar registered 14,392 cases in 2024 compared to 11,975 in 2023, amidst efforts to encourage reporting of petty crimes.
Bhubaneswar saw significant increases in cybercrime, with 7,263 cases, representing a spike in fraudulent activities. Meanwhile, proactive investigations led to substantial recoveries and numerous arrests.
