The Supreme Court has ruled that Dr. Anil Khurana must vacate his position as chairperson of the National Commission for Homoeopathy within a week. This decision came after Justices Dipankar Datta and Manmohan found his appointment invalid according to legal standards.

The ruling overturns a prior order from the Karnataka High Court. It responds to a petition by Dr. Amaragouda L Patil, who contested Khurana's appointment, arguing that Khurana lacked the experience required by the National Commission for Homeopathy Act, 2020.

The court emphasized that a new appointment process must start immediately, cautioning Khurana against making any financial policy decisions during his remaining time in office.
