Brazilian Women Caught with Cocaine Worth Rs 26 Crore at IGI Airport

Two Brazilian women were arrested at Delhi's IGI Airport for smuggling cocaine valued at nearly Rs 26 crore. The women had ingested capsules containing the narcotics. A total of 1.72 kg of cocaine was recovered, prompting further investigations into the international syndicate involved.

In a significant drug bust at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, two Brazilian women were apprehended for allegedly smuggling cocaine valued at nearly Rs 26 crore. The customs department revealed that the women concealed the drugs inside capsules, which they had ingested before embarking on their journey from South America to India via Europe.

The arrests were made after the women arrived from Sao Paulo, Brazil, via Paris, France, on January 25. Upon their interception, the suspects admitted to having swallowed the narcotic-filled capsules. One woman managed to eject 79 capsules, with the contents amounting to 768 grams of cocaine, valued at Rs 11.52 crore.

The second woman ejected 93 capsules containing 959 grams of cocaine, estimated to be worth Rs 14.39 crore. In total, 1.72 kg of cocaine in 172 capsules was seized, valued at Rs 25.91 crore. Authorities have initiated a further investigation to uncover the international networks involved in this smuggling attempt.
