The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) successfully intercepted a smuggling attempt involving synthetic diamonds valued at around Rs 5 crore. The gems, hidden in a laptop's battery compartment, were discovered at Mumbai Airport on Wednesday midnight.

A statement from a CISF spokesperson confirmed the recovery during a routine security scan of the passenger's belongings. The diamonds, placed in 26 transparent packets, were meant for unlawful transportation out of the country.

Following the discovery, the passenger, along with the synthetic diamonds, was transferred to the Customs Department for further investigation at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.
