In a significant move during a joint press conference with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US President Donald Trump has confirmed the approval of extradition for Tahawwur Rana. Rana is sought by Indian authorities for his alleged involvement in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, which claimed 166 lives.
Currently detained in Los Angeles, Rana is associated with David Coleman Headley, a key conspirator in the attacks. The US Supreme Court had previously declined Rana's petition, paving the way for his extradition, which both countries are expediting.
The 26/11 attacks, executed by Pakistani terrorists, triggered massive upheaval in India. The prompt extradition of Rana is seen as a crucial step towards justice. India continues to urge Pakistan to take strong action against other perpetrators.
