BJP Reaffirms Commitment to Manipur's Territorial Integrity Amidst Ethnic Tensions

The BJP is maintaining its stance on Manipur's territorial integrity while the state assembly remains in suspended animation under President's rule. Party efforts continue to foster peace amidst ethnic tensions between Meiteis and Kukis, with no new consensus candidate to lead the government after N Biren Singh's resignation.

The BJP has reiterated its dedication to upholding Manipur’s territorial integrity amid ongoing ethnic tensions. Party leader Sambit Patra emphasized that the state assembly, currently in suspended animation following President's rule, could be reactivated depending on the situation on the ground.

Sambit Patra, overseeing the BJP's northeast region, assured efforts to restore peace in a state currently divided by violence between Meiteis and Kukis. Despite tensions, the BJP holds a majority, although they have yet to find a consensus candidate for chief minister after N Biren Singh’s recent resignation.

Patra confirmed the assembly's status, mentioning that a decision to revive it will align with India's presidential guidance. The BJP's opposition to partitioning Manipur is intended to reassure the Meitei majority amidst concerns over demographic changes. The party is also taking firm measures against illegal border infiltrations.
