The Congress has called on Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan to dismiss the BJP-led Mahayuti government, alleging its failure to uphold law and order in the state, according to Harshvardhan Sapkal, the state party chief, on Wednesday.
Following a meeting with the governor, a Congress delegation, including a fact-finding team, criticized Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and other ministers for allegedly breaching constitutional duties amid unrest over a VHP protest confronting the historical Aurangzeb's tomb in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, caused by rumors related to a 'chadar' incident.
Sapkal accused BJP-linked groups of disturbing social peace and alleged that inflammatory statements by Minister Nitesh Rane against religious harmony have gone unpunished by the state. He argued that the actions, or lack thereof, result in societal unrest, demanding the administration's dismissal for dereliction of constitutional responsibilities.
