Operation Abhyas: Preparing Mumbai for the Unthinkable

At 4 PM, Cross Maidan in south Mumbai became a hive of activity as a siren signaled the start of a meticulously planned mock drill simulating an air strike. This exercise, part of Operation Abhyas, involved an array of emergency response teams, including civil defence, fire brigade, and medical personnel.

The drill kicked off with a simulated explosion, prompting civil defence volunteers to swiftly secure the area. Fire brigade teams arrived to combat the flames while paramedics provided urgent medical care to 'injured' individuals, who were then rushed to nearby hospitals.

Highlighting the drill's complexity, a high-rise rescue was executed to save an individual stranded on the fifth floor. The event saw participation from the National Disaster Response Force, National Cadet Corps, and others, showcasing Mumbai's readiness for potential air strike scenarios.
