Crackdown on Illegal Structures in UP Districts near Nepal Border
The Uttar Pradesh government, under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, launched a campaign against illegal encroachments and unrecognised religious structures in six districts bordering Nepal. The operation involved demolition and sealing of several illegal madrassas, mosques, and other religious sites across Shravasti, Balrampur, Bahraich, Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj, and Lakhimpur Kheri.

In a decisive operation led by the Uttar Pradesh government, six districts bordering Nepal witnessed a stringent campaign against illegal encroachments and unrecognised religious institutions.
On the directive of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, local administrations were tasked with identifying and addressing unlawful religious structures. Significant efforts were seen in Shravasti, where two madrassas were demolished, and two were sealed.
Similarly, significant actions were reported from Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj, and Balrampur, confirming the government's commitment to maintaining law and order. In Lakhimpur Kheri, authorities cleared encroachments from public lands, including mosques and mazars. The operation led to the removal of 169 encroachments in Bahraich, illustrating the scale of the crackdown.
