Ghatkopar Hoarding Collapse Report: Probing Accountability

A Maharashtra government committee investigating the Ghatkopar hoarding collapse has submitted its findings to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The report, headed by Justice Dilip Bhosle, examines accountability and suggests improvements for hoarding management to avoid future tragedies, following the May 13, 2024 incident that killed 17.

A committee formed by the Maharashtra government to investigate the tragic hoarding collapse in Ghatkopar, which resulted in 17 deaths, has delivered its findings to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, according to an official statement released on Thursday.

The six-member committee, led by former Allahabad High Court Chief Justice Dilip Bhosle, submitted the report on Wednesday. Chief Minister Fadnavis has since directed it to the Home Department for further examination and action.

The report assesses the roles of responsible parties and scrutinizes previous records and financial transactions. It also examines possible collusion with officials from various agencies and evaluates the current regulations for hoarding approvals, offering recommendations to avert similar disasters in the future.
